My name is Christin and I was born and raised in Western North Carolina. I was exposed to all types of livestock while I was growing up. I was raised on somewhat of a "mini-farm" in a small town. I was fortunate to have parents who supported me in everything I could ever imagine doing. At a very young age, I was showing horses and even barrel racing! My mentor/horseback riding teacher allowed me to be present for the breeding, birth, and training of many of their horses. Along with my horse adventures, I had almost every animal under the sun. I've always been an animal lover. At the age of approximately 12, I owned 80+ purebred show rabbits. My mentor was amazing. She took me to tons of rabbit shows and taught me so much about different breeds, their standards, and their genetics. I could literally sit in my "rabbit barn" all day long! Being around animals has always made me extremely happy!
In 2014, I purchased my first Goldendoodle. Given my history of raising livestock and small pets, I purchased her with breeding rights and intentions to raise puppies when she reached breeding age. After doing some research, I discovered several breeders who were extremely knowledgeable about how to raise top quality Goldendoodle puppies. I am fortunate to have several of these ladies as mentors to this day. I have discovered that breeders who breed with a passion to better the standard have a great deal of knowledge to share. I am so happy to see this sort of attitude towards animals. Prior to becoming a fulltime dog breeder, I was a sonographer. I had a wonderful career of 16 years at Haywood Regional Medical Center. I left my position as lead sonographer in June 2020 to dedicate my work focus to my dog breeding program that had grown into a fulltime job in itself. This was a wonderful move for my family. As a single mother of three, God truly blessed me with this opportunity. After producing our first litter, I realized the level of interest my children had in the entire process. It was at that time I decided that they deserved to play a roll in my doodle hobby/project. I’m so proud that they have shown such an interest and such responsibility. It’s very good for children to be involved in extracurricular activities. This hobby allows for them to use their minds, acquire a sense of accomplishment, reap rewards, and spend quality time with each other and myself. We breed intentions of producing puppies of the absolute best qualities of health, temperament, and appearance. Although my children are the main faces behind Dogwood Doodlebugs, I’m in the background teaching the importance of producing puppies for the right reasons. I carefully supervise them at all times to make sure they make the right decisions for their doodle babies and their future forever families. It thrills us to hear from families of my past puppies. We love hearing about how well they fit into their household with their family members and how they bring great joy to their home. My children LOVE the experience of having puppies in our home! Our puppies are well socialized before they leave my home to go to their forever homes. As our hobby grew into a business, my mother, Daphne, graciously stepped in to lend a helping hand. As business progressed, she became my partner in Dogwood Doodlebugs. We are so very blessed to share this experience together. My mother is a very nurturing human. She takes amazing care of our furbabies. We look forward to sharing the experience of a lifetime with our puppy families. It's our passion to make lives brighter with a doodle! |
